Hailey Bieber Admits She Made ‘Mistakes’ During Rhode Skincare Launch: ‘No Such Thing As Perfect’

Hailey Bieber is getting real about the controversial launch of her skincare brand, Rhode.

Back in June when the 25-year-old debuted the line, she was immediately met with criticism. Beauty influencer Iris Beilin called her out for what she called “awkward” behavior after the star sat in a “corner” and didn’t hype up her brand during its launch. Then, just days later, she was hit with THAT lawsuit from entrepreneurs Purna Khatau and Phoebe Vickers, who own fashion brand RHODE-NYC, LLC. They claimed Hailey’s use of the same name was “trademark-infringing,” complaining:

“Her using our brand is hurting our company, our employees, our customers, and our partners.”

The young entrepreneur eventually went on to win the right to keep the name Rhode for her line, but Purna and Phoebe promised to continue their legal battle, even stating they are “confident” they’ll win at trial. Eesh. On top of that, Reddit users began criticizing the products, including a Peptide Glazing Fluid, Barrier Restore Cream, and Peptide Lip Treatment, claiming they were causing severe breakouts.

When it rains it really pours! Now, with the benefit of hindsight, the model is now opening up about what she’s learned from everything.

During an interview at the Forbes Under 30 Summit Monday in Detroit, she spoke on the issues she faced while debuting her skincare line, explaining:

“I am a crazy perfectionist and I’ve had to accept the fact that there is no such thing as a perfect launch that doesn’t have its bumps or mishaps. This has been the biggest learning process for me and what I’m learning is that mistakes are really a part of the process and you have to accept those mistakes and be able to learn from them so that you can actually improve your brand and help drive it forward.”

She added:

“I think our mistakes actually help make us better as people when we choose to learn from them and I think when you have a brand, it helps you create an even better brand.”

Note she does NOT specify choosing the name Rhode was one of those “mistakes.” Something tells us that could hurt her in court! Here’s to hoping she uses the lessons she did learn to continue growing and improving her brand! See the full interview (below):
