Lance Reddick’s Attorney Believes His Cause Of Death Is ‘Inconsistent’?!

The family and attorney of Lance Reddick have an issue with his official cause of death — as in they are not buying it at all!

As you may know know, the 60-year-old actor unexpectedly died last month after his wife, Stephanie Reddick, found him passed out in the backyard of their home in Studio City. A rep for Lance confirmed the news to Entertainment Tonight at the time, saying the “acclaimed actor Lance Reddick passed away suddenly … from natural causes.” The rep added:

“He is survived by his wife Stephanie Reddick and children Yvonne Nicole Reddick and Christopher Reddick. Donations in his memory can be made to momcares.org in Baltimore, his hometown. Lance will be greatly missed. Please respect his family’s privacy at this time.”

Weeks later, TMZ reported that a death certificate revealed the John Wick star passed away from “ischemic heart disease” and “atherosclerotic coronary artery disease.” Awful. But not so fast! In a shocking twist, it turns out that those close to Lance do not believe the official cause of death since the coroner never did an autopsy!

His attorney James Hornstein – who now represents the late star’s wife – disputed the report in a statement to Entertainment Tonight on Friday, saying that “the coroner statement on the death certificate is not a result of an autopsy.” The lawyer explained:

“No autopsy was performed on Lance. To my knowledge, no medical examination of Lance during his lifetime ever indicated such conditions.”

What??! Also, Hornstein shared that the family doesn’t think the cause of Lance’s death was from heart disease since “the death certificate is wholly inconsistent with” his healthy and active lifestyle. Describing The Wire star as “the most physically fit person I’ve ever known,” the attorney said:

“He exercised daily at his home gym, including extensive cardio work, and the availability of gym facilities was a contractual requirement for his work away from home. He ate as if a dietician was monitoring his every meal. The information appearing on the death certificate is wholly inconsistent with his lifestyle. On behalf of Stephanie Reddick, the death certificate information is not corroborated and is inconsistent with the facts known to the family.”

Well, this certainly raises some questions! The big one is: If he didn’t pass away from heart disease as the family believes, then what happened to Lance? At this time, it is unknown if any more actions will be taken (such as getting an autopsy). Reactions to the surprising news, Perezcious readers? Sound OFF in the comments below!
