Johnny Depp & Amber Heard Both ‘Excited’ For Their Own Comebacks One Year After Nasty Trial Began!
Both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are turning over new leaves.
One year after the exes’ infamous trial, in which the Pirates of the Caribbean star accused his ex-wife of defamation for the abuse allegations she made in a 2018 op-ed, the two are moving on with their lives.
A source close to Heard told People Tuesday that the Aquaman actress “couldn’t wait to leave the US with her daughter” following the conclusion of last year’s trial:
“She has been living in Spain, where she gets more privacy. The trial was beyond stressful for her and she just wanted to start fresh out of the country.”
The 36-year-old is mom to 2-year-old Oonagh, who she welcomed via surrogate in 2021. The insider added:
“She is excited about working and filming again. She was exhausted and disappointed about the trial. She felt she was mistreated.”
Johnny famously won last year’s trial on three counts of defamation, for which Amber was ordered to pay $10.35 million in damages. Johnny had to pay $2 million as Amber won one of her countersuits.

The star previously opened up in a December statement about the trial’s results, noting that her life was “destroyed,” and that she had “lost faith in the American legal system.” However, despite her “disappointed” feelings, the Magic Mike XXL alum is now ready to let things flow as water under the bridge:
“This is all behind her now, though. She has new energy and is focused on things that she loves.”
As for Johnny, a close source told the outlet he’s been “focused on work,” going on a rock tour last summer with late guitarist Jeff Beck, and jumping back into filming for this year’s French-language film Jeanne Du Barry, in which he plays King Louis XV:
“As soon as his tour ended, he jumped into filming Jeanne Du Barry. Filming was challenging, but Johnny is excited about the comeback.”
Johnny believes the “historical drama,” which is set to open in Cannes on May 16, is “perfect” for the coveted film festival.

As far as his personal life goes, the insider added:
“Johnny has been living in Europe since the trial. He has been dating, but doesn’t have a girlfriend.”
The Edward Scissorhands star has also been gearing up to set sail on his own directorial feature, in the upcoming Modi film, which will be based on Dennis McIntyre’s Modigliani play. He’s also slated to go on a Europe tour this summer with his band Hollywood Vampires, which includes rock legends Alice Cooper and Joe Perry.
