Jeremy Renner Wrote ‘Last Words’ To His Family Following Horrific Snowplow Incident
Jeremy Renner had to prepare for the worst in his moments of unimaginable pain.
Three months after his horrific snow plow incident, the Avengers star is opening up about the harrowing reality he faced immediately afterwards — not jsut the physical torment but eh mental anguish of an uncertain future. In a new promotional clip for his highly anticipated interview with Diane Sawyer, in which Renner will open up for the first time about the terrifying freak accident, the Oscar-nominated actor reflects on his time in the intensive care unit, revealing he actually prepared final words for his family members:
“So I’m writing down notes in my phone — my last words to my family.”
He then becomes visibly upset reliving the moment, looking down and taking a second before apologizing to Sawyer. Heartbreaking.

The Hawkeye star adds in the brief clip that if he had been alone at the time of his New Year’s Day accident, it would have been even more “horrible” than it already was:
“If I was there on my own, that would have been a horrible way to die. And surely I would have. Surely.”
He continues with gratitude for his family, saying:
“But I wasn’t alone. It was my nephew. Sweet Alex. And the rest of the calvary came.”

You may remember our January report that the heroic actor leapt to safety to prevent his nephew — the same one he discusses in his interview clip — from being crushed by the massive PistenBully snowplow. A report at the time revealed that Renner was attempting to dig out his adult nephew’s car from a snowbank at his Nevada residence following a heavy storm, but an emergency brake indicator that was “not working” and a lack of traction prompted the 52-year-old to exit the cab and inspect things closer up:
“Once he was off the PistenBully, he realized it was heading directly toward [his nephew]. He feared the PistenBully was going to hit [his nephew], so he decided to attempt to stop or divert the PistenBully.”
The document continued:
“When Renner attempted to stop or divert the PistenBully to avoid injury to [his nephew], he was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over.”
Renner was “completely crushed” leaving him with a collapsed chest, a crushed upper torso, and many, many other severe injuries. It’s a miracle he survived.

In the months since, he has been fighting to recover, powerfully telling Diane in an earlier interview preview:
“I chose to survive.”
