Dad Who Left Daughter To Die In Arizona Heat While Playing Video Games Gets NEW Charges
The case of Parker Scholtes‘ death continues to get more and more grim the more we learn…
If you don’t remember the name, you’ll definitely remember the details of the infuriating case. Arizona dad Christopher Scholtes knowingly left his 2-year-old daughter in a hot car — but apparently lost track while distracted with his PlayStation. Parker’s heartbroken mother Erika Scholtes even said she’d told him before to stop leaving the children in the car, and was the one who ended up discovering her daughter’s body hours after she was left in it. The Pima County Medical Examiner revealed at the time the toddler’s body temperature had reached 108.9 in the punishing Arizona sun.
All around, it was a situation that we just can’t wrap our heads around. We mean, how were his priorities not his daughter’s safety? How could he forget?? But as more details surface, it’s only getting more disturbing.

Originally, Scholtes was charged with second-degree murder and Parker’s death was ruled an accident, but now that’s changed. According to Court TV, last week those charges were upped to felony first-degree murder and felony child abuse. An indictment read:
“On or about July 9, 2024, Christopher Scholtes, under circumstances likely to produce death or serious physical injury, committed child abuse by intentionally or knowingly, causing [the child], a minor under fifteen, to suffer physical injury … by leaving [the child] unattended in the vehicle.”
Awful…
If convicted of felony first-degree murder, per Arizona state law Scholtes could face life imprisonment or even capital punishment — aka the death penalty — for the death of his daughter. He is due back in court Thursday for another arraignment.
Our hearts continue to be with the ones grieving the loss of Parker. May she rest in peace and get the justice she deserves.
